This series reflects on that virtual space, the Otherworld in which figures of children hover like frozen avatars. The characters are ambivalent: they are empowered by their disguises and play-weapons, but they also look lonely and lost in the vacant landscapes. These kids could be gamers in virtual reality, or they could be the feral offspring of a dystopian future. The paintings evoke Golding's 'Lord of the Flies' and tabloid headlines of Britain's 'lost' and 'broken' youth.
